Andrea is originally from Lake St. Louis, Missouri. She received a B.S. in Behavioral Biology and Neuroscience, and a B.S. in Educational Studies from Emory University in 1999. After college, she worked for the Judevine Center for Autism in St. Louis, MO as an assistant respite supervisor and a family support provider. Andrea then received her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Learning Disabilities from Northwestern University in March of 2003. Since then she has practiced at the Cleveland Hearing and Speech Center, worked as an SLP for St. Louis Special School District and the Wentzville School District.
Andrea has been working as a SLP for 10 years. Andrea has extensive experience working with children with Autism, language disorders, reading/written language disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, and articulation/phonological disorders. She uses a variety of programs and techniques during therapy sessions including but not limited to: augmentative communication devices, PECS, the Hanen Approach, sign language, and the iPad.
Andrea has completed the Wilson Reading Overview training, the Behavioral Solutions training, and the Dream Team training (Dynavox). She is dedicated to continuing education and staying on top of the latest research and treatment methods in the field. Andrea has attended several workshops in the areas of Autism, social skills, Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, articulation disorders, literacy and language, and augmentative communication.
Current certifications include: ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence, and Missouri License from the Board of Healing Arts.
